Editing basics

Start editing
To start editing a MediaWiki page, click on the "Edit this page" (or just "edit") link at one of its edges. This will bring you to the edit page: a page with a text box containing the wikitext: the editable source code from which the server produces the webpage. If you just want to experiment, please do so in the sandbox, not here.
Summarize your changes
You should write a short edit summary in the small field below the edit-box.
Preview before saving
When you have finished, press preview to see how your changes will look -- before you make them permanent. Repeat the edit/preview process until you are satisfied, then click "Save" and your changes will be immediately applied to the article.
Creating a new page
First, think carefully about the name of the new page. The name of a page is more than just the heading. The name is part of the actual URL to the page. This, and many other reasons, make it preferable if the page name is short and concise. When you decide on a name, edit the page where you want a link to the new page. Add the link by simply typing in the name of the new page enclosed by double brackets: [[New page name]] save the page and then click the new link, this brings you directly to the edit mode of the new page. Edit the page as usual and save.
Renaming a page
If you really have to rename a page, even after careful consideration of the title in the first place, please do so with the move button. This ensures that the history is kept intact. Just manually copying the content of a page into a new page defeats the purpose of the version history. Clicking the move button also creates a redirection page with the old name that re-directs from the old name. If you want to keep the database clean, add this page to the Requested page deletions section of the Requests page. Please add an extra warning in the comment next to the link, saying that it is a re-direction page you want deleted.

Wikitext markup -- making your page look the way you want

In order to make the page more interesting, ther are several markup tags you can use, refer to the MediaWiki Handbook for details.
