Introduction

This tutorial gives the user minimal knowledge on how to use Global Illumination in RS3D. The text should be idiot proof, so feel free to edit it.

Scene Setup

  • Open RS. This is important.
  • Create a simple scene with an analytic disc as the ground (tick infinite on from properties->spec) and a sphere on it as our main character.
  • Set the ground's color to (0.85 0.85 0.85) and the sphere's color to (0.9 0.3 0.2).
  • Create another sphere in the world center and set it's size to, say, 100, 100, 100.
  • Open its properties window and tick shadow invisible and hollow in the Gen-tab.
  • Then go to the col tab and set Color to (0 0 0) and Illumination to (0.25 0.3 0.45).
  • Create a Point Light to represent the sun, place it so that you get nice shadows.
  • Set its color to (0.9 0.7 0.3) and strength to 1 (or whatever you find suitable).
  • RMB on the view window and go to View Properties->Camera, set Flashlight to (0, 0 ,0 ).
